Internet and Computer System

(1) The Back Bone to Internet

We use wireless radio waves to deliver high bandwidth and buzz productivity because such technology is reliable and is the only economical solution in Bali for 24-hour un-interrupted internet connection. Our microwave radio links utilise the 2.4Ghz radio spectrum and offer a reliable throughput speeds of 256 kbps within the WLAN. The "line of sight" between our café and our internet service provider is only less than 1 km, an optimal range to reduce interferences and extra relay point. Our antenna is placed on a high point above the café and connecting to its sister antenna at our ISP. We own this pair of antennas which operate as an important communication hub of a totally dedicated link.

 

(2) The Network

Ethernet is employed for our family of local-area networks (LAN) which switches data rates over twisted-pair cables at 10 Mbps 10Base-T and also at 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet. There is a Wireless Access Point using 802.11 b/g standards providing wi-fi environment covering 11 Mbps, 54 Mbps and upto 108 Mbps for notebook users. The wi-fi is secured by WPA2 encryption over DHCP services. For those without wireless capacity there is an extra network hubs on the second floor which enables connection to internet. We use a Printer Server to handle 3 networked printers, this enables printing not only from our computer terminals but also from your wireless notebook computer. All the internet traffic in and out of the café is handled by a router with a hardware firewall.

(3) Computer Systems

We provide 8 terminals spaciously spread out for maximum comfort and privacy; 6 are PC based Microsoft Windows XP systems, and 2 Apple Mac OS X systems. You can order a drink or enjoy a healthy snack or a meal while you use the computer. Smoking is not allowed in front of each terminal.

Each PC is equipped with the following as minimum:

• CPU Intel or AMD processor, clock speed from 1.7 GHz to 2.88 GHz
• RAM = 512 MB, Hard Disk > 20 GB, Interfaces: USB2 + Firewire
• AGP Graphic Card Video RAM = 128 MB, Sound Card 24-bit with headphone + Mic
• One CD-RW or DVD burner, and one CD ROM 52X
• Full keyboard layout and optical mouse
• 2 new iMac computers will soon be added to our family

(4) Printers

3 modern and fast Printers are installed and controlled via an external Printer Server, which offers full-featured networking ability for LAN and Wi-Fi use. You can also print directly from your notebook through wireless connection to any of our printers.

• Ond HP LaserJet 1200, Monochrome 1200x1200 dpi, Speed 15 ppm
• One Canon i6500 InkJet Printer, Colour 4800x1200 dpi, Speed 5 ppm and up to A3 size
• One HP Colour LaserJet 2605 Printer, Colour 600x600 dpi, Speed 10 ppm

(5) Scanner and Imaging

For high quality scanning of Documents, Photographs, Prints, as well as Film Negatives and Slides, we have installed one HP ScanJet 5470c high performance scnner. It has a hardware resolution of 2400x2400 dpi at 48-bit colour depth. An active transparency adapter is used for scanning of slides and film negatives.

(6) Other Peripherals

• Stereo Headset with microphone, for Voice over IP, Chat, Skype, Video Conferencing etc.

(7) Other Services

• OCR Document, either in text or spreadsheet formats.
• Typing (both in Bahasa Indonesia and English), we charge per block of 200 words.

Our Charges

1. Internet Usage (no minimum charge) - Rp. 250 per minute
2. Printing Laser B/W - Rp. 1,000 per A4 page
3. Printing Colour - Rp. 10,000 per A4 page
4. Printing Colour - RP. 20,000 per A3 page
5. Scanning - Rp. 8,000 per A4 page
6. We give discount for regular customers as well as high volume request.
